Today we’re super excited to share with you some beautiful wedding photography from Holly + Tim’s intimate backyard wedding in Cambridge!
We’re still catching up on our backlog of blogging weddings, and this one is pretty incredible (even if it’s from way back in 2018)!
More often than not, when we hear the words “backyard wedding” we get a little nervous. It often brings up memories of terribly unorganized adventures, with very little forethought, preparation or style. Most times when we chat with couples who are planning a backyard wedding we very quickly realize that we’re probably not a great fit for them – they’re choosing to do a backyard wedding because they think it will be easy, inexpensive and simple… and it rarely ends up being any one of those three. Turns out, there’s a lot involved in pulling off a successful wedding. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Holly and Tim, however, were a shining example of how to do an AMAZING backyard wedding. I mean, it did help a little bit that their parents renovated their entire backyard with the idea of this backyard wedding in mind. And it also helped that Holly + Tim had a strong sense of styling and details. Not to mention their ability to plan for almost every foreseeable need. We were impressed with everything they had thought of already when we met, so we were super excited when they asked us to be their photographers!
We started the day as they got ready on separate floors of the house, and then had their first look in the backyard. From there we headed to Mill Race Park in Cambridge, where we took a few portraits of the wedding party and the happy couple. Oh, and their doggy – can’t forget the doggy! A beautiful outdoor ceremony and some snacks followed, and then we headed to the backyard reception.
As evening turned to night we found ourselves enjoying the laughter and stories about these two, and soon enough we had finished our after dark photos and were on our way. The food and dancing and fun were amazing, but what we loved the most was how much personality these two put into the planning of their day, and how they made it so uniquely personal. We’ve got a few photos to share below; you’ll see what we mean.
Congrats, Holly + Tim! Thanks for letting us play a small part in such a beautiful day!
